Mr. Chiang Kang Pey was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Public Mutual in November 2022.

He holds a Master of Financial Management (Dean’s Honours List) degree from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands and a Bachelor of Economics degree in Accounting from Monash University in Australia. Mr. Chiang is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and began managing equity funds in 1997. He has more than 26 years of experience in fund management as well as investment research, and has held various senior management positions during this period.

Mr. Chiang joined Public Mutual in 2004 as Manager of the Investment Department and thereafter assumed the position of Head of the Equity Portfolio Management Department in 2016. While spearheading the management of the Company’s equity funds, he was promoted to the position of General Manager in 2017 before subsequently being appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in October 2021. Prior to joining Public Mutual, Mr. Chiang served at an asset management company; analysing and valuing listed companies as well as jointly managing Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) portfolios.

En. Abdul Samad B. Jaafar is the designated person responsible for compliance matters. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Management Control from Sheffield Hallam University, UK and a Master in Business Administration from International Islamic University Malaysia. He joined Public Mutual in 1998. He has more than 20 years working experience in audit and compliance. He first joined Public Mutual as the Internal Audit Manager and assumed his present post in 2019.

Mr. Chung Yee Wah joined Public Mutual in 2023 as its Chief Investment Officer. He holds an honours degree in Business Administration from the National University of Malaysia. Mr. Chung has more than 29 years of experience in the fund management industry and has held various senior positions during this period.

Mr. Chung’s prior experience includes being the Chief Investment Officer of a bank-owned Islamic asset management company, the Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic arm of a global asset management company, as well as a fund manager managing domestic and regional funds in various companies – including for one of the largest sovereign funds globally.

Mr. Liew holds an honours degree in Business from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. He joined Public Mutual in 2008 as Deputy Manager – Investment, Equities Section, and assumed the position of Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2008, Senior Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2013 and Assistant General Manager, Equity Portfolio Management in 2019. He was designated as the Acting Head of Equity Portfolio Management in 2021 and subsequently promoted to the position of Co-Head of Equity in 2023.

Prior to joining Public Mutual, Mr. Liew assumed fund management and investment analysis roles with a foreign insurance company as well as a local unit trust and asset management company. He has more than 20 years of experience in the equity markets; encompassing the global, regional and domestic markets.

Ms. Yap graduated with First Class Honours from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder, as well as a Fellow Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. She joined Public Mutual in 2016 as Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section, and assumed the position of Senior Portfolio Manager, Equity Portfolio Management in 2018. She was subsequently promoted to the position of Co-Head of Equity in 2023.

Prior to joining Public Mutual, Ms. Yap assumed financial and investment-related roles locally and in London, U.K. She has amassed more than 15 years of experience in the global, regional and domestic equity markets.

Mr. Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Marketing / Finance from the Charles Sturt University, Australia. He joined Public Mutual as Senior Analyst - Investment, Equities Section in 2007, and assumed the position of Portfolio Manager - Investment, Equities Section in 2015 and Senior Portfolio Manager, Equity Portfolio Management in 2018. He was subsequenty promoted to the position of Co-Head of Equity in 2023.

Prior to joining Public Mutual, Mr. Tan worked with a bank-backed securities firm and an investment management company as an investment analyst. He has over 20 years of experience in investment research and portfolio management across the global, regional and domestic equity markets.

En. Mat Radzuan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science and Finance from Roosevelt University, USA. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Malaysia. He joined Public Mutual in 2004 as Assistant Manager – Investment, Equities Section and was subsequently made co-fund manager of selected funds managed by Public Mutual in 2005. En. Mat Radzuan assumed his position of Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2006 and Senior Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2008 and Assistant General Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2014. He was subsequently promoted to Deputy General Manager – Investment, Equity Portfolio Management in 2021. He was assigned to manage selected domestic and foreign Shariah-compliant equity funds.

En. Mat Radzuan has extensive experience in the equity market and has worked in this industry for more than 20 years covering both Malaysian and selected foreign markets.

Ms. Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Western Australia, fully passed the Australian CPA program and is a CFA charterholder. She joined Public Mutual in 2003 as Assistant Manager, Investment Research. She was made Deputy Manager – Investment, Equities Section and designated co-fund manager of selected funds managed by Public Mutual in 2005. Ms. Tan assumed her position of Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2006 and Senior Portfolio Manager – Investment, Equities Section in 2008. She was promoted to Assistant General Manager in 2014 and subsequently promoted to Deputy General Manager in Jun 2022.

Ms. Tan previously worked in a foreign financial institution with a global presence before embarking into a career in the financial markets. She was an investment analyst for an established local stockbroking house for a period of time before moving on to the asset management industry. Ms. Tan has over 25 years experience in the Malaysian equity market and over 15 years in the regional markets.

En. Zaharudin, CFP, CMSRL, holds a Bachelor in Library Science from Universiti Teknologi MARA and has more than 30 years of experience in the field of fixed income investments. He joined Public Mutual in 1991 as an Executive in the Investment Department and, over the years, has been a key member in the management of the bond, sukuk and money market portfolios of fixed income, money market, balanced, mixed asset and Private Retirement Scheme funds. He is also pivotal to the development and advancement of operations and system capabilities of the Fixed Income Portfolio Management Department.

En. Zaharudin was promoted to Assistant General Manager in 2013 and assumed the position of Co-Head of Fixed Income (Portfolio Management) in 2023. He now oversees the fixed income investments which include all matters relating to investment strategy and portfolio positioning.
